Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

1. Scope and suitable submissions
Management Analytics and Social Insights (MASI) publishes original, rigorous research and scholarly reviews addressing management analytics and the social, organizational, economic, policy, and technological dimensions of management and decision-making. Submissions must fit the journal’s stated aims and scope and make a clear contribution to knowledge or practice.

2. Submission and templates
Submit manuscripts through the journal’s online system. Authors should prepare the manuscript using either the Microsoft Word template:
https://masi.reapress.com/journal/libraryFiles/downloadPublic/5
or the LaTeX template:
https://masi.reapress.com/journal/libraryFiles/downloadPublic/9

A PDF may be uploaded for initial review. Editable source files will be required for accepted manuscripts. LaTeX submissions must include the main .tex file, bibliography file, required class/style files, and all figures.

3. Double-blind peer review
MASI uses double-blind peer review. The review manuscript must not contain author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, biographies, or other identifying information. Remove personal information from file properties. Cite the authors’ own work in the third person and do not obscure references needed to assess the scholarship. Provide complete author details only in the submission system or in a separate title page when requested.

4. Manuscript organization
Use a clear title that accurately reflects the work. The abstract should state the purpose, approach, principal findings, and contribution. Provide focused keywords that improve discoverability. Organize the main text appropriately for the study, normally including an introduction, relevant literature or conceptual background, methods, results or findings, discussion, and conclusions. Explain the research question, context, methods, analysis, limitations, contribution, and implications with sufficient detail for evaluation and, where applicable, replication.

After the main text, include the applicable declarations: author contributions, ethics approval, informed consent, funding, competing interests, data availability, acknowledgements, and generative-AI disclosure. If a declaration does not apply, state this clearly where appropriate.

5. Tables, figures, and supplementary files
Number tables and figures in the order cited and provide a concise title or caption for each. Every table and figure must be cited in the text. Ensure that labels are legible and that files are of publication quality. Supply editable tables and, when requested, separate high-resolution figure files. Supplementary materials should use common, accessible formats and must be clearly described in the manuscript.

6. Authorship and contributor information
List only contributors who meet accepted authorship criteria. All authors must approve the submitted version, agree to submission, and accept responsibility for their contributions. The corresponding author must ensure that the author list and order are accurate and that no eligible contributor is omitted. Enter each author’s full name, institutional affiliation, country, email address, and ORCID iD where available. Describe author contributions using a recognized contributor-role framework when appropriate.

7. Research ethics and informed consent
Research involving human participants, surveys, interviews, identifiable personal data, or other regulated activities must report the approving body, approval identifier where available, and informed-consent procedure. If approval or consent was not required, explain the basis where relevant. Protect privacy and confidentiality and do not include identifiable information without appropriate consent. Research involving animals or sensitive data must comply with applicable institutional, national, and disciplinary standards.

8. Funding and competing interests
Disclose all financial and non-financial support and identify funders and grant numbers where applicable. Disclose any financial, institutional, personal, professional, or academic relationship that could reasonably be perceived to influence the work. If there was no funding or no competing interest, include an explicit statement to that effect.

9. Data availability and reproducibility
Include a data-availability statement for every submission. State where supporting data, code, instruments, or other materials can be accessed and provide repository identifiers or persistent links when available. If materials cannot be shared because of legal, ethical, privacy, security, or proprietary restrictions, describe the restriction and any conditions for access. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all submitted data.

10. Generative AI and AI-assisted tools
Disclose any material use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools in preparing the manuscript, analysis, code, images, or other content, including the tool and purpose. AI systems cannot be authors. Authors are fully responsible for originality, accuracy, citations, permissions, data, images, and conclusions. Do not upload confidential manuscript or participant information to public AI systems.

11. References
References must be complete, accurate, and consistent. Ensure every in-text citation has a matching reference and every listed reference is cited. Include DOI links in the form https://doi.org/... or another stable URL when available. Authors should cite relevant primary literature and avoid unnecessary or coercive citation.

12. Permissions and originality
Authors must obtain written permission for copyrighted material they do not own and provide the required acknowledgement. Clearly identify adapted material and cite its source. Submission confirms that the manuscript is original, is not under consideration elsewhere, and appropriately discloses any related publication, preprint, or prior dissemination.

13. Language and presentation
Manuscripts must be written in clear academic English. Define abbreviations at first use, use consistent terminology and units, and check spelling, grammar, tables, figures, equations, and references before submission. Language editing does not guarantee acceptance.

14. Revisions and accepted manuscripts
When revising, submit a clean manuscript and a point-by-point response explaining how each editor and reviewer comment was addressed, with changes clearly identified when requested. On acceptance, provide all editable source files and resolve any outstanding metadata, permissions, ethics, disclosure, and production queries.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

1. The manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal. Any related manuscripts, preprints, or prior dissemination have been disclosed to the editor.

2. All listed authors meet accepted authorship criteria, have approved the submitted version, and agree to its submission to MASI. No eligible contributor has been omitted.

3. The manuscript has been prepared for double-blind peer review. Author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, and identifying file properties have been removed from the blinded review file.

7. Funding sources and all financial, institutional, personal, or academic conflicts of interest have been fully disclosed. If none exist, appropriate no-funding and no-conflict statements are included.

8. A data-availability statement is included where relevant. Data and code are shared through an appropriate repository when possible, or any legal, ethical, privacy, or proprietary restriction is explained.

9. Any use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools that requires disclosure has been described transparently. AI systems are not listed as authors, and the authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, citations, data, images, and conclusions of the manuscript.

10. The manuscript complies with the journal's copyright, CC BY 4.0 licensing, publication-ethics, plagiarism, and permissions policies.

Articles

The Articles section publishes original research articles, review articles, systematic reviews, methodological articles, case studies, and well-grounded conceptual or perspective articles that fall within the journal's aims and scope. Submissions must make a clear contribution to management analytics, business or decision analytics, operations and decision sciences, optimization, multiple-criteria decision-making, artificial intelligence in management, or social and behavioral insights relevant to managerial, organizational, operational, or policy decisions. All submissions undergo editorial screening and, when suitable, double-blind peer review by independent experts. Acceptance is based on originality, methodological rigor, validity of evidence and analysis, clarity, ethical compliance, relevance to MASI, and the significance of the contribution.

MASI and its service providers use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and should notify the journal of suspected unauthorized access.

Users may update many account details through their profile.
